Caravaggio: irrequietezza e sregolatezza.
Quando si parla di musica rock, due sono le caratteristiche essenziali che vengono alla mente: sregolatezza ed irrequietezza; ed è a partire da questo binomio che ci siamo divertiti ad associare 5 opere di Michelangelo Merisi, alias Caravaggio, ad altrettanti brani, secondo noi strettamente correlati, del panorama mondiale della musica rock. Animo notevolmente irrequieto, nei suoi 39 anni di vita, Caravaggio affrontò gravissime vicende. Stile drammatico inconfondibile. Data che caratterizzò fortemente la sua esistenza fu il 28 maggio 1606: si macchiò di omicidio durante una rissa, e conseguentemente, condannato a morte, fu costretto a fuggire per sempre per poter scampare alla pena capitale. Il suo stile drammatico, unico e inconfondibile, influenzò fortemente la pittura dei secoli successivi, costituendo quella che venne poi chiamata la corrente del caravaggismo.
La rivoluzione naturalistica di Caravaggio.
Prima di venire agli abbinamenti delle opere di Caravaggio-Musica Rock che abbiamo accuratamente meditato, è bene porre l’accento sulla rivoluzione naturalistica del grande artista lombardo; arte capace di dare ai corpi una strabiliante forma tridimensionale, grazie al sapiente utilizzo “fotografico” dell’illuminazione. Luce che in maniera drammatica e teatrale, sottolinea il volume dei corpi che, in maniera plastica e scultorea, emergono dall’oscurità. Nelle opere di Caravaggio sono dunque evidenti fortissimi contrasti di luci ed ombre.

Caravaggio: restlessness and unruliness.
When it comes to rock music, two are the essential characteristics that come to mind: unruliness and restlessness; and it is from this combination that we had fun to associate 5 works by Michelangelo Merisi, aka Caravaggio, to as many pieces, according to us closely related, the world scene of rock music. Animo notably restless, in his 39 years of life, Caravaggio faced very serious events. Unmistakable dramatic style. The date that strongly characterized his existence was 28 May 1606: he was murdered during a fight, and consequently, sentenced to death, he was forced to flee forever in order to escape capital punishment. His dramatic style, unique and unmistakable, strongly influenced the painting of the following centuries, constituting what was then called the current of caravaggism.
The naturalistic revolution of Caravaggio.
Before coming to the accompaniment of the works of Caravaggio-Rock Music that we have carefully meditated, it is good to emphasize the naturalistic revolution of the great Lombard artist; art capable of giving the bodies an amazing three-dimensional shape, thanks to the skilful “photographic” use of lighting. Light that dramatically and theatrically underlines the volume of bodies that, in a plastic and sculptural way, emerge from the darkness. In the works of Caravaggio are therefore evident strong contrasts of lights and shadows.
